We are a House League Hockey Association for Mites through Midget levels, both boys and girls, and the home of the Negaunee Miners High School Hockey Team. We are affiliated with both USA Hockey and Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.

REGISTRATION FORM CORRECTIONS Please note that the registration date is September 10 NOT September 12. Also the registration amounts for the girls levels are incorrect. Please refer to the birth range above the girls levels for the correct amounts. Sorry for the inconvenience.

REGISTRATION CHANGE The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association, at their May 9, Executive Board Meeting has announced that all players and coaches for the 2008-2009 hockey season must register with USA Hockey and MAHA on-line. The cost for online registration for coaches and all players born before 2002 will be $35.00 ($30.00 to USA Hockey, $5.00 to MAHA). Players born in the year 2002 or later must still register, but there will be no charge for these players. On-line registration will also eliminate the "Waiver of Liability" form. Once you receive your registration receipt with the bar code on it, forward it to Jim Hetrick or print and bring the receipt with you to registration. The treasurers will then scan the bar code on the form to enter you in the computer for IRHA.

REFEREE CLINIC Sunday, September 21, at Lakeview Arena at 8:30 a.m. Levels 1-4.

ICE BEGINS The ice is tentatively set to be ready for October 8 and evaluations will begin then.

COTREASURERS IRHA has updated their bylaws to reflect the treasurer position as a coposition. This was done because it is such an important and time consuming position. Also for the reason that if one treasurer is out of town or not available, there will be someone else to be there.

RAFFLE FUNDRAISER Besides the coupon books, this will be the only fundraiser for the 2008-2009 hockey season. Details will be in your registration packet.

COACHES AND ALL VOLUNTEERS All coaches and volunteers will need to submit a background check. Go to maha.org/CoachingBackgroundCheck.aspx. Coaches will need to show Jim Hetrick or Brent Nault an e-mail receipt or forward the email that this was done before they will be put on a roster. All others will also need to the confirmation email to Jim Hetrick or Brent Nault.

HIGH SCHOOL FUNDRAISER Any high school eligible player interested in trying out for the Miner High School Hockey team in the fall, may start to sell Evergreen Wreaths and Garland to help offset the cost of their hockey. This is the only fundraiser planned so far. If you are interested in an order form or have any questions, contact Julie Nault at 475-6830 or email her at jknault@aol.com. Orders must be placed by Nov. 10, and delivery will be Nov. 23, 2008. The profit will go into your individual account if you make the team, and into the general high school hockey account if you don't make the team.
